Try not to be too obvious when counting down the minutes and pass that note as discreetly as possible.   4. faculty Have a bone to pick with your terror math teacher. A crush on the cute chemistry teacher? There might be something you want to ask your homeroom teacher about. In any case, you plan on seeing a faculty member today. So while the teacher was giving a lesson on the types of acids, E was lying his head down on the desk. Did it matter if the teacher saw him sleeping? Not to him.]

[Makes literally no effort in school and somehow still manages to do well. Known for living with her aunt; lots of rumors about her parents being in jail, spies, etc. In actuality, they died a long time ago, but she thinks the rumors are funny. Active in a lot of sports clubs-- track, kendo, fencing. Hangs around a lot and occasionally skips classes. Works at the local bookstore (owned by her aunt). Pretends to be a lot cooler than she actually is.]

[Kurogane was a senior this year, and all he really cared about was winning the regional Kendo title. It shouldn't have been hard; he was undefeated at every match he'd had...with guys, anyway. And with most girls, too, but there was one he had never been able to beat, and it bothered him.

Not that it really mattered, title-wise. Guys and girls couldn't compete together, after all, which he thought was stupid. But it wasn't up to him, and most of the rules for things he'd encountered in his life didn't make sense anyway. Still, it rankled his pride to know his undefeated status wasn't really true.

Not that he was a typical jock. He worked hard to care for his ailing mother, his father having passed away years ago. He was a mechanic, which fit in pretty well with his school hours and let him be pretty flexible with his schedule. He was also a science whiz, especially physics, and had been granted an engineering scholarship to one of the best universities in the region.

Still, reputation was everything. Not that he had a lot of friends; he was prone to fighting and losing his temper, and he was damn lucky he hadn't been arrested yet. So when he was occupying the gym late one afternoon to do some kendo drills, seeing the girl he couldn't beat walk in just soured his mood.]

[It wasn't as though Asellus was unaware of Kurogane's reaction each time she hit that final strike in a sparring match. But at the same time, the urge to do as well as she was able and the knowledge that he would not appreciate winning if she didn't kept her from throwing any matches.

Even so, she didn't really get the clear heaviness in the atmosphere when she came in to drill. She didn't hold any grudges against the many people who were better than she when it came to track or fencing. Maybe it was a boy thing-- she didn't have much interaction with guys outside of clubs, growing up in such a strict household. Her aunt had fought long and hard with her over the hairdye, but Asellus knew much better than to go consorting with young men-- well, okay, where anyone who knew her aunt could see. After hours, though, she was pretty well known for sneaking out and going to the senior parties, even though she was a junior.

Kurogane was something of a mystery to her, though. She never saw him at the parties, and he wasn't much of a talker, even when she tried to get him to chat. She knew better, though, than to try when they were drilling. He'd probably gut her with a practice sword.

But that didn't stop her from giving him sidewise glances, tying her guards on. You might be a little annoyed with her, but she's been nothing but curious since the day she'd started coming to the club in her freshman year, Kuro.]

[Yeah, her throwing her matches, even with him, wouldn't make him happy. In fact it'd make him feel worse that someone was going easy on him.

Oh, he didn't care that she was a girl. He knew most of the rumors surrounding his anger and grumpiness had to do with the fact that he kept getting his ass kicked by a girl, but no, it just annoyed him that she was better.

He watched her put her training stuff on from the corner of his eye, a little curious himself. He didn't know much about this girl, mostly because he was a busy guy and left people alone for the most part. Her life was her business, except when it came to the kendo, since it intersected with his.

Still, he wasn't stupid, and had heard the rumors about her parents for years. While they usually made him scoff for being so childish and unbelievable, he had to wonder how things like that affected her.

But it wasn't the time to focus on it now, when she was standing so near him all guarded up for drills.]

You wanna spar?

[He hadn't meant to ask. He had a shift at the shop starting in two hours and all he really wanted was to work on his moves by himself, let off a little steam before he tried to deal with parts machinery. But his question snuck out anyway, so friendly on the surface that if anyone else had been in the gym a whole new set of rumors would have been flying by the next morning.]

Yeah, Shinpachi is a Nagakura. Three guesses as to what country of origin that comes from and the first two don't count.

So after printing out a couple pages of the necessary information, Shinpachi is left screwing around for the rest of the period on one of the computers, trying to suppress laughter while looking at cat macros.

[ That's innocent enough, right? Steve, the beloved quarterback, super nice, really involved in the school, gets straight As. Yeah, he's the kind of boy that male Taylor Swifts would write about-- he's football captain and I'm on the bleachers, etcetera.

It's almost annoying, how clean-cut, friendly, wholesome and American he is.

And guess what, Loki? He's left his group of adoring friends to come sit his lunch tray down right next to you.

Yeah, that's right, Mr. Peanut Butter and Jelly, branch of grapes and tall glass of milk himself is going to situate himself down right here and smile all megawatt and dentist office ad. ]

[the only reason loki is stuck here is because this school has a ridiculous rule allowing only seniors to take their lunches off campus and elsewhere--frankly if it were up to him he'd be dining at the finest (or as fine as these american schools could offer) restaurants and taking his sweet time. but alas, he hasn't been driven to the point of breaking any rules yet and here he is.

while thor is off gallivanting (though he only does it a few days a week, sometimes opting to smother loki and eat lunch with him anyway) today loki is alone and judging the world and that's perfectly fine--in fact he prefers the silence to any inane attempts at sucking up or god forbid trying to become a friend. there's no one here loki has convinced himself he'd want to befriend anyway.

but of course, no one is ever content to just leave him alone. he barely restrains an eyeroll, looking up from his lunch with a slight sigh until he's face to face with--oh.

of course he knows who steve is, he's a good observer and he'd already gotten a crash course from thor's annoying new "friend" jane who everyone is. steven rogers is the golden boy, something loki thought he'd resent. he still does somewhat, only his resent is turned inwards on himself for being unable to find something rude to say in response to a genuinely honest, open and somewhat hopeful face.

steve rogers, as it turns out, is a truly nice person.

he swallows away any pre-loaded insults on the tip of his tongue, instead nodding and offering a momentary little half-smile of his own. there's something amused in his tone, but not mocking for a change. steve should be able to detect the slightest hint of an accent, though loki thinks his origins are fairly well-known even though it's only his second day.]

Loki. [he extends his hand, tilting his head a little to get a better look at steve and maybe not be so blinded with the smile. it's perfect and all.]

The pleasure is all mine. So kind of you to take it upon yourself to make the introduction. And certainly a little less daunting to adapt when there's a friendly, handsome face in the mix.

[ He repeats it, trying it out. It sounds strange to him, not in an unpleasant way, just like something he'd never say, totally foreign, and he half wonders if he's saying it wrong. ]

Well Loki, I'm sorry we weren't more welcoming yesterday, but we'll try to help make you feel right at home.

[ He noticed that Loki is reserved. Most of Steve's friends had deemed him unapproachable, kind of scary, definitely way too tall and not friendly like Thor. Steve had left his first school from bullying. He'd been scrawny and loud and kids apparently couldn't deal with that, so he'd found himself in dumpsters and with his back against lockers, minus lunch money, and pushed down the stairs. People would put gum in his hair and throw paint on his clothes and pants him in the hallways. He's annoying, they said. He breathes. That was his crime.

He'd left for a few years to get homeschooled, and enrolled in a few self defense classes. Apparently that went real well for him, and when he transferred, everyone had loved him. Seriously. He was still loud about what he was before, except nobody calls him a teachers pet anymore, nobody would think of shoving him in a locker, and people actually want to be seen with him. It's so.... Shallow.

So he doesn't let them do that to Loki. He doesn't let that happen to anyone, which is why people love him a little less now. He makes the rest of the football team feel bad about beating up on that kid with the cane, and they'd completely ostracize Steve if not for the fact that he's a star player and he makes an excellent wingman at parties with cheerleaders.

No one deserves to go through all that, in Steve's not very humble opinion. And yes, he can totally see that Loki isn't exactly keen on meeting Steve, despite what he says. Honestly, whenever new people started walking over to Steve, they could probably smell the fear on him, do he gets it, gets it probably more than Loki knows. ]

Where is that, by the way? Home?

[ Steve's never been outside of the country, gets good grades in Spanish but wouldn't survive a day in a Spanish-speaking country without English. His accent is absolutely atrocious, the epitome of American, but his vocabulary is great and he understands grammar pretty well. He's tolerant of other cultures, super curious about them, but he's not much a traveler. He's in love with home, with an ideal America.

He'd go to wherever Loki's from, and he'd enjoy it, but he'd get a little homesick too. Yeah, the adjustment must be difficult. ]

[It's that time of year again. The annual Powderpuff Football Game that takes place the month before the senior ball, which pays for the venue while the senior fundraisers and the tickets cover the rest of the expenses.

People are dressed in school colors, the more enthusiastic putting streaks in their hair. The cheerleaders and their friends are in football jerseys, even Letha, though with the baby she's watching from the bench. The normal football team, and those lucky enough to be friends with the cheerleaders, are relegated to playing cheerleaders for the game. Some of the boys wear the top and shorts, some of the them wear shorts underneath, and some of them, like Roman, go for the whole thing.

He's got the legs to pull it off, as the girls had insisted. Long, slender, shaved smooth, and he wears the shin-high athletic socks with sneakers he bought just for this (they're not his usual style, but he's got the money, so why the fuck not?). The skirt is short and flared, and the top fits snug over his flat chest, straps hanging from his thin shoulders. Green and black accents his eyes, and there's something ironic about the wolf printed on the shirt above the letters 'HGHS'. Most boys actually wearing the skirt make a joke of it, with balloons for breasts and glitter makeup, but Roman just wears it with his hair loose instead of gelled back, and a perpetual grin.

He grabs his books off his desk as the bell rings, fucking finally. There's an hour before they start getting set up for the game, and he wanders over to his locker, shoving the books in and grabs his pompoms as he looks over at Peter, leaning against his locker as he shoves it closed.

[ Peter was starting to think this school had the strangest traditions ever seen. He past a few girls in football jerseys with an arch eyebrow as he jumped up the stairs. Unlike most of the school, Peter is dressed in his normal crappy band shirt and pale blue plaid shirt. He did'nt actually have that many clothes when it came down to it. Part of his life of always moving around. He adjusted the strap of his bag as he pasted a few boys in cheerleaders, with a little scoff. At least they were getting into it. He shook his head as he even saw mini Hemingway in bright colors.

He finally made it to his locker as he shoved some books into the small space. It seemed he was always the odd one out at this school, though, it was a first for not wearing a skirt.

The Gypsy just shakes his head as he closes his locker and turns away and then his breath catches his throat as he just freaking stares. There is Roman. Long pale legs and looking fucking more amazing then any girl he'd ever seen in anything, ever. Peter just stares over at Roman, you could almost hear his brain fizzle as he tried to fiqure out something to say.]

[ Oh, Roman grins as he sees Peter staring, looking at him and clearly trying to find something to say. Oh, he loved this. Not just the outfit (though he enjoyed it more than he was letting on) but the way that his mouthy fucking gypsy boy seemed struck speechless. One hand goes to the curve of a hipbone, where the skirt sits, that slight way he shifts hips to the side just slightly (more) provocative. ]

[ It's low, teasing as he rattles his pompoms, and more ironic that anything to do with team spirit. Goes to figure that even if you managed to get Roman tangled up in something like this, it would still end up being all about him. His eyes glint, his lips full and almost smug as he watches Peter. With the way that Roman leans against his locker, his top pulls up, exposes a small stripe of skin just below his bellybutton. His torso is long, and so it's just a little too short; just enough to make these seem like some naughty Halloween costume instead of a girls' athletic outfit. ]

[ His eyebrows just keep being raised as the other makes a small attempt at joining the cheer squad but he's a little distract by those legs and that skirt. Even the sight of Roman's skinny chest exposed where a girls boobs would be, it's all just..hot. It's the last words that finally have him snapping out of his daze and walks closer, adjusting his backstrap as a distraction to himself as he finally closes the distance between them. Those lips are as distracting as ever, as are Roman's bright eyes.]

More just suddenly wishing I was on the football team.
